Basketball Game Preview: Modesto Panthers vs. Gregori Jaguars

Modesto is 0-10 against Gregori since January of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Modesto Panthers face off against the Gregori Jaguars at 7:30 p.m.

Modesto is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They took a 42-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Downey.

Despite their defeat, Modesto saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Allison Marchy, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 14 points and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Maeve Kidd, who posted six points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Modesto was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Gregori entered their tilt with Enochs on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 53-41. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 379th, while the Eagles are ranked 769th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gregori's win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Modesto, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Modesto took a serious blow against Gregori in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 56-19. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Modesto was down 31-10.
