Basketball Recap: Hughesville Comes Up Short

If Hughesville was riding high fresh off their 65-34 takedown of Elk Lake last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hughesville Spartans took a 52-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Columbia Bluejays on Thursday. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bluejays earlier this season, when they won 60-41.

Hughesville's defeat dropped their record down to 20-3. As for Central Columbia, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.

Hughesville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Central Columbia, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Loyalsock Township at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Loyalsock Township sitting on 14 straight victories and Central Columbia on three.
