Softball Recap: Washington-Wilkes Comes Up Short

Washington-Wilkes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hart County Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since September 4, 2024.

Molly Dawson made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Annabel Cox, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

Washington-Wilkes' loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Hart County, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Looking ahead, Washington-Wilkes will be playing in front of their home fans against Oglethorpe County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hart County, they will head out to face off against Greenbrier at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
