Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mater Dei). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the JSerra Catholic Lions 40-7. The Monarchs not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since October 25, 2024 (when they won 59-14).

Justin Lewis had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 64 yards and three scores on only nine carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Mater Dei also got help from Kayden Dixon-Wyatt, who showed off his sure hands for 92 receiving yards.

Mater Dei is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.4 points on average over those games. As for JSerra Catholic, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Coming up, Mater Dei will head out on the road to challenge St. John Bosco at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Braves' defense has only allowed 8.4 points per game this season, so the Monarchs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for JSerra Catholic, they will face off against Santa Margarita at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
