Soccer Game Preview: Helix vs. Valhalla

The Helix Highlanders will venture away from home to face off against the Valhalla Norsemen at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Helix's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Helix is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Mater Dei Catholic on Monday. Helix fell just short of Mater Dei Catholic by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Highlanders have lost by just one goal.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valhalla). They put the hurt on Imperial with a sharp 7-1 victory last Friday. The result was nothing new for the Norsemen, who have now won four matches by three goals or more so far this season.

Valhalla now has a winning record of 4-3-2. As for Helix, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3-1.

Helix skirted past Valhalla 2-1 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Helix since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
