Basketball Recap: Aspire Langston Hughes Academy Drops Season-High Score on Fortune Early College

Aspire Langston Hughes Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fortune Early College Panthers. The loss continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.

Fortune Early College's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoe Rocha, who posted 16 points and three blocks. Those three blocks gave Rocha a new career-high. Heaven Graves was another key player, putting up 17 points along with six boards and four steals.

Aspire Langston Hughes Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Fortune Early College, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 3-6 record this season.

Aspire Langston Hughes Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ben Holt College Prep Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 14, 2025. As for Fortune Early College, they will venture away from home to take on West Campus at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
