The Northridge Jaguars will head out to take on the Bessemer City Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northridge took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Paul W. Bryant 35-10. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Jaguars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Stampede are ranked 238th).

Mayson Elam had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 101 yards and three touchdowns, while also punching in one score on the ground. He has become a key player for Northridge: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise. Adam Hall was in the mix as well, providing the Jaguars with two TDs.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Northridge's defense and their four sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Amani Knox and Ford Cole, who each picked up one sack apiece. Miller Arendale got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Bessemer City over Paul W. Bryant in every quarter on their way to victory last Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Tigers blew the Stampede out of the water with a 52-8 final score. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Stampede recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Bessemer City's win came from a few key players Northridge will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Chenyis Wilson-Fuller, who rushed for 71 yards and a pair of scores, and also caught one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Teldrin Turner, who rushed for 55 yards and a pair of TDs.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Bessemer City proved: they limited Paul W. Bryant to a paltry 2.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Razarius Horn for the heroic effort on defense: he. Bessemer City didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.9.
Bessemer City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Davontae Burnett and Trystin Berry.
Bessemer City's record is now 5-1. As for Northridge, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Northridge was able to grind out a solid win over Bessemer City when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 17-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
