Basketball Recap: Orcutt Academy Drops Season-High Score on Paso Robles

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Orcutt Academy had no problem doing just that on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 77-58 victory over the Paso Robles Bearcats. The Spartans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Elizabeth Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 34 points and 18 boards. Her evening made it 33 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Iraya Bell-Jackson, who went 8-for-13 to rack up 19 points.

Orcutt Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Orcutt Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. As for Paso Robles, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-16.

Coming up, Orcutt Academy will face off against Mission College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mission College Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Orcutt Academy likes a good challenge. Paso Robles does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
