Basketball Recap: Leland Comes Up Short

Leland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the Prospect Panthers 62-34. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 775th, while the Panthers are ranked 210th).

Alyssa Nagatani and Zeynep Tepegoz certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Nagatani posted seven points and five boards, while Tepegoz earned seven points and ten rebounds. Tepegoz is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Sadie Slaughter was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds for Prospect. That makes it three consecutive games in which Slaughter has scored at least a third of Prospect's points. Another player making a difference was Kate Barstow, who put up eight points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Leland's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Prospect, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.

Leland has already played their next game (against Willow Glen), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Prospect has also has no score uploaded for their next match, this one against Evergreen Valley.
