Basketball Recap: Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits vs. Cabrillo Jaguars
In what's become a running theme this season, the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They really took it to Cabrillo for the full four quarters, racking up a 77-11 victory at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-6.
Long Beach Poly got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bailey Prewitt out in front who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Prewitt is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Taylor, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Long Beach Poly's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.5 points per game. As for Cabrillo, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Long Beach Poly will square off against the Rams at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Millikan will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 365th, while the Jackrabbits are ranked 92nd). As for Cabrillo, they will head out on the road to challenge the Bruins at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Woodrow Wilson is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
