Football Game Preview: Richfield Spartans vs. Columbia Heights Hylanders

The Richfield Spartans will face off against the Columbia Heights Hylanders at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Richfield will be strutting in after a victory while Columbia Heights will be coming in after a loss.

Richfield will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 12 points last Friday, then bounced right back against St. Anthony Village on Friday. The Spartans simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Huskies 46-6. That looming 46-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.

Meanwhile, Columbia Heights was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 50-8 loss at the hands of Benilde-St. Margaret's. While losing is never fun, the Hylanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Red Knights are ranked 114th).

The win got Richfield back to even at 3-3. As for Columbia Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Richfield strolled past Columbia Heights when the teams last played back in October of 2020 by a score of 47-31. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Hylanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
