Basketball Recap: Aiyana Hosep Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Modesto

Pitman won the last time they faced Modesto and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Pitman Pride secured a 32-28 W over the Modesto Panthers.

Pitman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aiyana Hosep led the charge by putting up 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That's the most steals Hosep has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashli Mendoza, who posted eight points and 11 boards.

Pitman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Modesto only pulled down six offensive rebounds.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Linda Anderson, who put up nine points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Iheoma Agunanne, who earned four points.

Pitman's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-11. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points per game. As for Modesto, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-10.

Pitman didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 39-27 win against Downey on the 16th. Modesto has also already played their next matchup, a 52-36 defeat against Enochs on the 16th.
