Basketball Recap: Los Angeles Leadership Academy Comes Up Short

Los Angeles Leadership Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 39-28 to University Pathways Medical Magnet.

When it comes to explaining why Los Angeles Leadership Academy lost, don't look at Sabrina Quijano. Despite the final result, she posted ten points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Garcia, who scored four points along with eight blocks and six rebounds.

University Pathways Medical Magnet got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gianna Benitez out in front who put up seven points in addition to 14 boards and six steals. Benitez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Munguia, who went 6 for 10 en route to 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Los Angeles Leadership Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for University Pathways Medical Magnet, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-11.

Los Angeles Leadership Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 35-23 win against Smidt Tech on the 6th. University Pathways Medical Magnet does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
