Archangels Catholic won the last time they faced Hartington-Newcastle and Whitney Wegener did her part to make sure it happened again. The Defenders put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 44-18 win on Tuesday thanks in part to Wegener, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game.

Hartington-Newcastle's loss came despite strong showings from Vayda Lippert and Karissa Bruning. Lippert posted 12 points and four steals, while Bruning had four points along with nine boards and three blocks. That was a full 66.7% of the Wildcats' points, marking the seventh time in a row Lippert has scored more than a third of the team's points.

The victory made it two in a row for Archangels Catholic and bumps their season record up to 9-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 47 points in those games. As for Hartington-Newcastle, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Archangels Catholic will take on Pierce at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hartington-Newcastle, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Tri County Northeast at 6:00 p.m.
