Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask CORE Butte). Their defense stepped up to hand the Portola Tigers an 8-0 shutout on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for CORE Butte as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

CORE Butte's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Portola, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

CORE Butte will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Quincy at 4:00 p.m. on the 30th. As for Portola, they are taking a road trip to challenge Paradise Adventist Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
