American came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 goals) and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Mission San Jose Warriors a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Mission San Jose from everywhere, as eight different players booted in a goal. Abigail Peterman led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

American's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Mission San Jose, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. American will take on Clayton Valley Charter at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. American knows how to get goals on the board -- the squad has finished with four goals or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Clayton Valley Charter likes a good challenge. As for Mission San Jose, they will face off against Kennedy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
