Baseball Recap: Jenkins County's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Jenkins County never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Savannah Bluejackets. The win was familiar territory for the War Eagles, who have now won four matches in a row.

Chandler Cates and Hayden Harrison made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Cates struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Harrison tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). At bat, Cates went 1-for-3 with three RBI, while Harrison scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Tyler Williams was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Jenkins County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-14 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Ryley James, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Jenkins County's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-14. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Savannah, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Coincidentally, Jenkins County and Savannah will both be playing McIntosh County Academy the next time they take the field. The War Eagles will head out to face the Buccaneers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Bluejackets will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
