Soccer Game Preview: Mount Miguel vs. Helix

Mount Miguel is 0-7 against Helix since January of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Mount Miguel Matadors will take on the Helix Highlanders at 7:00 p.m.

Mount Miguel is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They fell 2-0 to Monte Vista.

Helix, on the other hand, haven't lost since December 30, 2024 and they too continued that trend. Their defense stepped up to hand Grossmont a 2-0 shutout on Friday. Given the Highlanders' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Foothillers are ranked 640th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Helix is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those four games. As for Mount Miguel, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Mount Miguel suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Helix in their previous matchup back in February of 2018. Can Mount Miguel avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
