Football Recap: Riverside Military Academy Comes Up Short

If Riverside Military Academy was riding high fresh off their 36-6 takedown of Cross Keys last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles came up short against the Lanier Christian Academy Lightning on Thursday, falling 35-12. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 27-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

JJ Blackwell threw for 111 yards and one touchdown. Shaka Rorie was his top target, picking up 41 receiving yards. On the ground, Michael Omeh rushed for 28 yards.

Ben Hargis was nothing short of spectacular for Lanier Christian Academy: he rushed for 222 yards while picking up 11.7 yards per carry.

Riverside Military Academy's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lanier Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverside Military Academy will head out to take on Bethlehem Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on the 5th. This will be the Eagles' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Lanier Christian Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Cherokee Christian at 7:30 p.m. on the 19th.
