The Randolph Ghosts will square off against the Oxbow Olympians at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Randolph took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Lyndon Institute 14-6. The result was nothing new for the Ghosts, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Oxbow had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over Lake Region on Tuesday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Olympians' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Brogan Covey made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up five earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Oxbow is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-6 otherwise. Covey was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jonny Smith, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with seven stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Griffin Pike was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Oxbow always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Oxbow's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Randolph, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Randolph has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Oxbow struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Randolph's way against Oxbow in their previous meeting back in June of 2025, as Randolph made off with a 9-3 victory. Will the Ghosts repeat their success, or do the Olympians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
