Basketball Recap: South Tahoe Vikings vs. North Valleys Panthers

If the South Tahoe Vikings were riding high off their 54-13 takedown of the Hug Hawks last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. South Tahoe fell 59-46 to the Panthers on Wednesday. South Tahoe has not had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
South Tahoe's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Campbell Mathews, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds, and Addie Menke who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Menke has scored all season.
Ivy Williams was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 15 rebounds for North Valleys. Williams is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Annika Hester, who scored 12 points.
South Tahoe's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for North Valleys, they pushed their record up to 17-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
South Tahoe will head out on the road to square off against the Colts at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wooster is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games. As for North Valleys, they will be playing at home against the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Truckee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 78th in California, while the Panthers are ranked 18th in Nevada).
