Baseball Recap: Fairless Gets the Win

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Fairless nor Garaway made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Falcons' pitcher stepped up to hand the Pirates a 3-0 shutout.

Mike Ritterbeck made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Fairless is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-19-1 otherwise. Ritterbeck was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucas Peters, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Fairless' win bumped their record up to 5-21-1. As for Garaway, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-9.

Fairless does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Garaway, they will take on Tuslaw at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
