Basketball Game Preview: San Marin Mustangs vs. Marin Catholic Wildcats

San Marin hasn't had much luck against Marin Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The San Marin Mustangs will take on the Marin Catholic Wildcats at 6:00 p.m.

Last Saturday, San Marin was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 38-37 to Ukiah. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mustangs came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Wildcats are ranked 328th).

Meanwhile, Marin Catholic was able to grind out a solid win over Menlo School on Saturday, taking the game 58-46. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Marin Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points per game. As for San Marin, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4.

San Marin took a serious blow against Marin Catholic when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 62-25. Can San Marin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
