Softball Recap: Fullington Academy Wins Going Away Against Crisp Academy

Fullington Academy hadn't done well against Crisp Academy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Wildcats. The high-scoring effort was just what the Trojans needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Rayelee Johnson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August.

In other batting news, Brooklin Cromer was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Ross, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Fullington Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Fullington Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Crisp Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.

Looking ahead, Fullington Academy will challenge Twiggs Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Crisp Academy, they will face off against Central Fellowship Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
