Basketball Game Preview: Paloma Valley Wildcats vs. Poly Bears

The Paloma Valley Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Poly Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Paloma Valley has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 28.

Paloma Valley is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Rancho Christian on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Paloma Valley took a blow against Rancho Christian, falling 86-36. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 738th, while the Eagles are ranked 19th).

Meanwhile, Poly was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were dealt an 84-15 defeat at the hands of Moreno Valley. The contest marked the Bears' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Paloma Valley will have to keep a close watch on Abby Folsom and Elizabeth Murray, a pair of players who had a big impact on Poly's prior game. Folsom posted seven points, while Murray earned five points. That was a full 46.7% of Poly's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Paloma Valley's loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Poly, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.

Paloma Valley came up short against Poly in their previous matchup on January 9th, falling 58-53. Can Paloma Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
