Softball Recap: Johnson County Comes Up Short

Johnson County extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 11-13. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gatewood Gators. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Gators earlier this season, when they won 8-5.

As for Gatewood, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games.

For Gatewood's part, the team relied heavily on Alexis Thrift, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Ellie McMillian was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As of now, neither Johnson County nor Gatewood have any future games scheduled.
