Basketball Recap: Mount Miguel Comes Up Short

Mount Miguel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Valhalla Norsemen, falling 50-20. The Matadors were down 34-11 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Valhalla's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Songoli EkwoSi, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 22 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Ekwosi a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Lilly Dallo, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 boards.

Mount Miguel's loss dropped their record down to 4-21. As for Valhalla, they moved to 3-15 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Mount Miguel will head out on the road to square off against West Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. West Hills will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Mount Miguel surely won't give up without a fight. As for Valhalla, they will be playing at home against El Cajon Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
