Basketball Game Preview: Aragon Dons vs. Menlo-Atherton Bears

The Aragon Dons will take on the Menlo-Atherton Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Aragon: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Menlo-Atherton has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Aragon turned things around against Wilcox on Saturday. They secured a 51-47 W over the Chargers.

Among those leading the charge was Daisy Pantoja Beltran, who posted 19 points. Another player making a difference was Sofia Dioli, who put up 11 points.

Meanwhile, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Menlo-Atherton made off with a 41-40 win over Carlmont. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Scots are ranked 343rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Menlo-Atherton has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.9 points per game. As for Aragon, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.

Aragon came out on top in a nail-biter against Menlo-Atherton when the teams last played back in January of 2024, sneaking past 60-57. Does Aragon have another victory up their sleeve, or will Menlo-Atherton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
