Basketball Recap: Blacklick Valley Starts Season with Victory Against Rockwood

Blacklick Valley had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took their match on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 54-17 victory over the Rockwood Rockets. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-8.

Kristin Szymusiak was a one-woman wrecking crew for Blacklick Valley as she dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten steals. Szymusiak has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 25 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Riley Hoover, who posted 12 points and six boards.

Blacklick Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-42 win against Glendale on the 6th. As for Rockwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 52-40 loss against Claysburg-Kimmel on the 6th.
