Softball Recap: Luella Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

While Luella put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Cedar Grove. The Lions were the clear victors by a 22-0 margin over the Saints. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 11 matchups by 15 runs or more so far this season.

Zaena Harris made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Mikayla Thurman was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jamiah Barnes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

Luella kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Luella, bringing their record up to 11-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cedar Grove, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
