Recap: Charleroi Cougars vs. Yough Cougars
The Charleroi Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 47-39 to Yough. If Charleroi hoped to take revenge for the 54-38 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Charleroi's loss came despite strong showings from Ella Sypolt and Riley Jones. Sypolt scored 15 points, while Jones scored 15 points.
Charleroi has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Yough, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charleroi won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Ringgold at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. As for Yough, they will be playing at home against Waynesburg Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Waynesburg Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Yough in Pennsylvania (Waynesburg Central is ranked 91st, while Yough is ranked 436th).
