Preview: Palm Springs Indians vs. Rancho Mirage Rattlers
Palm Springs has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Rancho Mirage Rattlers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rancho Mirage took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Palm Springs, who comes in off a win.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Palm Springs ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They managed a 40-35 victory over Banning. The win was just what Palm Springs needed coming off of a 49-26 defeat in their prior contest.
Palm Springs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Miley Flores led the charge by scoring 13 points along with five steals. The game was Flores' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Naomi Bote, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Rancho Mirage, who are still winless after their sixth match. They were dealt a 45-6 loss at the hands of Marymount on December 1st. While losing is never fun, Rancho Mirage can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1285th, while Marymount is ranked 357th).
Palm Springs' win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Rancho Mirage, they bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Palm Springs beat Rancho Mirage 31-23 in their previous meeting back in January. Does Palm Springs have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rancho Mirage turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
