Milton hadn't done well against Middlebury recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Tigers 6-5. That's two games straight that the Yellowjackets have won by just one run.

Mason Martel was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aden Cota, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Milton and bumps their season record up to 3-7. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Middlebury, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Milton is set to challenge their familiar foe Missisquoi Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Middlebury will take on rival Mt. Abraham at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
