Softball Recap: Vinita Gets the Win

Vinita was handed a 13-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Stigler Panthers, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hornets have posted since September 15th.

CC Carter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Jaidyn Bartley was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Caylen Sparks, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Vinita has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 18-24 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Stigler, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

Vinita will have a chance to go back-to-back against Stigler: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
