Softball Recap: Davenport Central Comes Up Short

Davenport Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Independence Mustangs. If the Blue Devils were looking for revenge after losing 11-5 to the Mustangs when the teams met back in July of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Davenport Central's loss dropped their record down to 4-23. As for Independence, they moved to 6-21 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Davenport Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 8-4 defeat against Iowa City West on the 28th. As for Independence, they have also already played their next game, a 12-0 win against Mt. Pleasant on the 28th.
