Basketball Recap: Poway Comes Up Short

Poway played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Westview Wolverines and fell 71-36. The Titans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-12.

Poway's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emily Farr, who posted eight points along with 12 boards and four steals. That's the most steals Farr has posted since back in November of 2024. Louison Lartiguet also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Westview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maren Zimmer, who went 9 for 11 en route to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Zimmer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Sarah Heyn was another key player, going 7 of 16 on her way to 18 points and eight assists.

Poway has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Westview, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-7.

Poway has already played their next game, a 101-21 defeat against Mission Hills on the 4th. As for Westview, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 46-33 victory against Cathedral Catholic on the 3rd.
