Basketball Game Preview: Homestead Mustangs vs. Los Gatos Wildcats

Homestead is 2-8 against Los Gatos since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Homestead Mustangs will host the Los Gatos Wildcats at 3:15 p.m.

Homestead is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Menlo School on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Homestead came up short against Menlo School, falling 63-41. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while the Knights are ranked 60th).

Meanwhile, Los Gatos earned a 50-41 victory over Los Altos on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Homestead now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Los Gatos, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.

Homestead might still be hurting after the 75-49 defeat they got from Los Gatos in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Homestead avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
