Soccer Game Preview: Corona del Mar vs. Saint Joseph

The Corona del Mar Sea Kings will venture away from home to take on the Saint Joseph Jesters at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Corona del Mar's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Corona del Mar took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They beat Fountain Valley by a goal, winning 4-3. Considering the Sea Kings' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Saint Joseph had already won five in a row and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They never let the Spirits onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The Jesters' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four matches.

Saint Joseph pushed their record up to 15-1-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those five games. As for Corona del Mar, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.

Everything went Corona del Mar's way against Saint Joseph in their previous matchup back in December of 2014, as Corona del Mar made off with a 4-0 win. Will Corona del Mar repeat their success, or does Saint Joseph have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
