Recap: Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils vs. Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders
It was a good run, but the Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 56-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bishop Guilfoyle. The contest was a 26-26 toss-up at halftime, but Bellwood-Antis couldn't quite close it out.
Despite the defeat, Bellwood-Antis saw an underclassman step up: Lilly Gerwert dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. Gerwert has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Hammond, who scored 16 points.
Bellwood-Antis' defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Bishop Guilfoyle, they pushed their record up to 16-1 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Bellwood-Antis will take on Hollidaysburg at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hollidaysburg will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. As for Bishop Guilfoyle, they will head out on the road to face off against Bald Eagle Area at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Bald Eagle Area will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 504th, while Bishop Guilfoyle is ranked 45th).
