Classical Academy had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 13-14 to make it four. They fell 7-3 to the Maranatha Christian Eagles. The Caimans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 6-1.
Classical Academy got a good showing from Quaid O'Carroll, who struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits.

At the plate, Luke Longo was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Classical Academy is 2-1 when Longo posts two or more stolen bases, but 11-13 otherwise. Julian Gibbs also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
As for Maranatha Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.
On Maranatha Christian's side, Cody Baltgalvis made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave Baltgalvis a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Shane Piester was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Zach Ruiz was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
As of now, neither Classical Academy nor Maranatha Christian have any future games scheduled.
