Softball Recap: Cass Comes Up Short

Cass lost against Aquinas back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Wildcats took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monarchs. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cass got a good showing from Zoey Powles, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Powles has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cass saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Rainey, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Rainey's first of the season.

Cass' defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Aquinas, their record now sits at 6-11.

Coming up, Cass will face off against Fort Calhoun at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Aquinas, they will square off against Lakeview at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
