Softball Game Preview: Valley Tigers vs. Ankeny Centennial Jaguars

Valley is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Ankeny Centennial is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Tigers will host the Jaguars on Monday.

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Valley and Waukee, and Valley kept the tradition alive. The Tigers came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Ankeny Centennial and Urbandale meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Jaguars walked away with a 10-6 win over the J-Hawks.

Ankeny Centennial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Valley, their win bumped their record up to 34-11.

Valley couldn't quite finish off Ankeny Centennial when the teams last played two weeks ago and fell 8-6. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
