Recap: West Fargo Packers vs. Shanley Deacons
On Friday, The West Fargo Packers faced the Shanley Deacons in a battle between two of the state's top teams. West Fargo was beaten by Shanley 50-14. West Fargo's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it four in a row.
It was another big night for Landon Meier, who threw for 337 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Sam Ovsak did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 90 receiving yards and a touchdown.
West Fargo's loss was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-0 Fargo North and 9-2 Minot (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.9% over those games). As for Shanley, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
West Fargo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Shanley will face off against Fargo Davies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Dakota (Fargo Davies is ranked eighth, while Shanley is ranked first).
