Recap: San Dimas Saints vs. Village Christian Crusaders
After a string of three wins, the San Dimas Saints's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. Their tough 70-49 loss to Village Christian might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, San Dimas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Village Christian is ranked 16th).
Several Saints players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Janessa Rodriguez, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Rodriguez is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamora Fletcher, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, San Dimas were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Village Christian only racked up 18 assists.
Village Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alanna Neale, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. Bryanne Lopez-Wood was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
San Dimas' defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Village Christian, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
San Dimas will head out on the road to face off against Sultana at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Village Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Del Norte at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th.
