Softball Recap: Douglas County West Takes a Loss

After flying high against Bryan on Monday, Douglas County West came back down to earth. The Falcon fell 12-9 to the Omaha Central Eagles on Monday. The Falcon were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Talia Walsh stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Those hits marked the first that she has got this season. Another player making a difference was Bella Zach, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Douglas County West now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Omaha Central, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Looking ahead, Douglas County West is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on Elkhorn on Thursday. As for Omaha Central, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Buena Vista at 5:00 p.m.
