Valparaiso takes loss despite strong efforts from Lillian Barnes and Becca Gerdt

Recap: Valparaiso Vikings vs. Lake Central Indians

After a string of three wins, the Valparaiso Vikings's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 46-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake Central. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Valparaiso has scored all season.

Becca Gerdt and Lillian Barnes certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Gerdt scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Barnes scored 20 points along with seven assists and six steals. Barnes has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times she's played.

Valparaiso's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Lake Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Valparaiso on the road again on Tuesday and play against Michigan City at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Lake Central, they will be playing at home against Hammond Morton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hammond Morton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while Lake Central is ranked 17th).
