Recap: Miramonte Matadors vs. Benicia Panthers
The Miramonte Matadors can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They breezed by Benicia at home to the tune of 62-24. Miramonte's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Karena Eberts was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Miramonte's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Annie Lindberg, who scored five points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
Miramonte's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-5. As for Benicia, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miramonte will square off against Maria Carrillo at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Maria Carrillo presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Miramonte in California (Maria Carrillo is ranked 266th, while Miramonte is ranked 567th). As for Benicia, they will head out on the road to face off against American Canyon at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. American Canyon is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
