National high school girls basketball scoring leaders: California freshman adds two more 40-point games

Of the top 50 scorers in the nation, 12 are averaging 30 points or more, led by Madison County junior Kayla McPherson who averages a whopping 36.3 points per game.

Ontario Christian 5-foot-11 guard Chloe Briggs continued her brilliant freshman season last week with a pair of 40-point-plus games, including a 41-point, 17-rebound contest during a 57-44 victory over Xavier Prep in the Southern Section 4AA semifinals.

She's tied with Annie Wright (Tacoma, Wash.) junior Julianna Walker for second in the country at 34.9 points per game

Briggs, who also averages 12.5 rebounds and 6.6 assists, leads her 29-2 team into Saturday's championship against Paloma Valley. Her team will then advance to the CIF Southern California tournament.
