Basketball Game Preview: Vincent Memorial Scots vs. Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets

Vincent Memorial and Palo Verde Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Vincent Memorial Scots will head out to face off against the Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Vincent Memorial is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Imperial just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. The game between them and the Tigers didn't end well, with Vincent Memorial falling 59-40. While losing is never fun, the Scots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Tigers are ranked 146th).

Meanwhile, Palo Verde Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 47-40 to Calexico.

Vincent Memorial will have to keep a close watch on Jessica Walton and Reagan McCarthy, a pair of players who had a big impact on Palo Verde Valley's prior game. Walton posted 12 points, while McCarthy scored ten points.

Palo Verde Valley's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Vincent Memorial, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-6.

Vincent Memorial was able to grind out a solid victory over Palo Verde Valley when the teams last played back in January, winning 44-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vincent Memorial since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
