Football Game Preview: Exeter Monarchs vs. Selma Bears + How To Watch

The Exeter Monarchs will take on the Selma Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Exeter headed into their last game having not scored more than 13 points for seven straight, but Hanford West let them put that streak behind them. The Monarchs blew past the Huskies, posting a 40-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Monarchs in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won seven in a row.

Owen Robertson was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 159 yards and two TDs on only seven carries, and also caught one touchdown. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 83 yards. Another player making a difference was Andrew Plyman, who threw for 100 yards and three TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Exeter was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 353 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 65.4 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five contests they've averaged 160.

Meanwhile, it may have taken triple overtime to finish the job, but Selma ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past Sierra Pacific 23-20. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted since August 23, 2024.

The victory got Exeter back to even at 4-4. As for Selma, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
